"Working with Hereford Insurance Company has been a truly positive experience. Their underwriting team pays close attention to every detail of each individual policy and approaches underwriting on a true case-by-case basis, understanding that insurance is not a “cookie cutter” business.
Special thanks to Denisse Acevedo for her outstanding management, organization, and hands-on approach that keeps the underwriting department working efficiently and together as one strong team. All underwriters are consistently professional, knowledgeable, and always ready to help.
One of the things that truly stands out is how easy it is to actually get an underwriter on the phone to discuss a situation, ask for advice, or work through a problem together — something that has become increasingly rare in today’s insurance industry.
Hereford continues to maintain a personalized approach and strong service culture despite the company’s growth. It is refreshing to work with an insurance company that still values relationships, communication, and thoughtful underwriting."

"My experience with Hereford Insurance Co. has been nothing short of exhausting and frustrating. In May 2022, I was struck by one of their insured drivers (likely an Uber/cab driver), and what followed has been a drawn-out, unnecessarily difficult process every step of the way.
From the beginning, it felt like they did everything possible to delay the case. Nothing moved efficiently, and it often seemed like stalling was part of the strategy. Now, after all this time, a judgment has finally been awarded in my favor—an amount they are clearly unhappy with, especially considering it came out to nearly FOUR TIMES what they initially offered.
Despite my legal team providing all required documentation promptly, Hereford is still taking their time issuing payment. While we may technically still be within the legal window (by about two weeks), it’s obvious when a company is simply dragging things out to make life more difficult.
Meanwhile, I’ve been left dealing with the real consequences—injuries that left me unable to walk, falling behind on bills, and accumulating debt just trying to stay afloat. The lack of urgency, combined with what feels like pure stubbornness and “gatekeeping,” has made an already difficult situation far worse.
Their medical evaluations also felt questionable at best. The doctors they used seemed more interested in minimizing my injuries than accurately assessing them—likely in an effort to reduce their financial responsibility.
My advice: hope you never have to deal with a claim involving this company. If you do, be prepared for a long, stressful fight. You’ll come out of it more drained, more stressed, and honestly worse off mentally than when you started—regardless of the outcome.
They don’t play fair. Fight, fight, fight. They will make it hard but don’t give up. Good luck and steer clear. I would give “0” stars if I could.
***UPDATE!!!
This is the third time I’m editing this post and updating, we are now 42 calander days and 27 business days in. According to someone, I’m there and, a check was cut on Thursday, April 23rd and yet nothing has been received. They are literally waiting till the 11th hour to release this check to a mail carrier."

"If you’re dealing with this insurance company, be careful and read everything closely before signing.
In my case, I was told to sign a property damage release in order to receive payment for repairs. It was never clearly explained that they would later treat that as a full and final settlement of all claims. Diminished value was never discussed, evaluated, or paid—and I certainly didn’t knowingly waive my right to pursue it.
Now they’re saying the matter is “fully resolved,” which I strongly disagree with.
Because of this experience, I’ve filed a complaint with the New York State Department of Financial Services. I’m still open to resolving things fairly, but as of now, I’m prepared to take further action if needed.
Just a heads-up to others: ask questions, don’t assume anything is covered, and don’t feel pressured to sign until everything—including diminished value—is clearly addressed.
They are refusing to pay an undisputed amount I am owed for rental reimbursement unless I sign a notarized release. I am not their insured, and there is no reason to withhold money that is already due.
This is frustrating, unprofessional, and feels like a deliberate attempt to coerce payment under unfair conditions. I would not recommend relying on them to handle claims fairly or promptly.
It’s disappointing that an insurance company would engage in practices that seem to violate basic consumer rights."
